OUR STORY

In Principio is Latin for "In the beginning," inspired by the opening words of the Gospel of John: "In principio erat Verbum" — "In the beginning was the Word" (John 1:1).
Photography became our passion at the end of 2024 while we were in process of planning our own wedding. That moment inspired us to share our love for photography with others, and today we photograph the weddings of other couples.
Over the years, we've photographed weddings across Dubrovnik, Split, Istria, Zagreb, and the Croatian coastline, helping couples from around the world preserve not only their wedding day, but the feeling of being here. We understand how Croatia changes throughout the seasons, where the most beautiful evening light falls, when historic city centres become crowded, and which locations offer privacy, atmosphere, and breathtaking views.

While our main focus is Croatia and destination weddings here, we also photograph destination weddings throughout Italy, Europe, and worldwide. These bookings are available on request, depending on the destination and our availability.

For us, wedding photography is not only about documenting moments. It's about capturing the connection between two people and the destination they chose for one of the most meaningful days of their lives.

Our approach combines relaxed documentary coverage with elegant editorial portraits, we like to call it - loose editorial style. This creates photographs that feels timeless today and decades from now.

  • Our style is natural, emotional, and storytelling-focused with a touch of an editorial look. We document real moments as they unfold, with gentle guidance when needed; never stiff, never forced.

  • We are based in Croatia, but we travel across Europe and worldwide. Destination weddings are always welcome.

  • You can expect a sneak peek shortly after the wedding. Full galleries are delivered within the timeframe defined in your contract: usually we deliver in 7-25 days.

  • We recommend booking 9–12 months in advance, especially for popular dates in spring and summer. Some dates are booked even earlier.

  • In Principio Weddings is led by Kim and Ivan, the creative duo behind the brand. We personally photograph every wedding. For larger celebrations or when couples choose extended coverage (such as two photographers and two filmmakers), we collaborate with a small circle of trusted creatives who share our vision, style, and approach
